Appearance: white to light yellow crystalline powder.

irritation. Harmful if swallowed. Hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from
the air).

Potential Health Effects
Eye:
Causes eye irritation.
Skin:
May cause severe skin irritation. Causes skin irritation. Not
expected to cause an allergic skin reaction. A single prolonged skin
exposure is not likely to result in the material being absorbed in
harmful amounts.
Found to be not sensitizing in Buehler test in guinea pigs (1986).
Ingestion:
Harmful if swallowed. May cause gastrointestinal irritation with
nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
May cause muscle contractions. Guanidine is a stimulant of striated
muscle.
Inhalation:
Dust is irritating to the respiratory tract.
