Chronic health hazards can occur from long term excessive inhalation of crystalline silica dust. Crystalline silica in the lungs can produce pneumoconiosis, commonly called silicosis (a slowly developing disease) Symptoms may be delayed 10 years or more Benign or inert pneumoconiosis may result from exposure to nuisance dusts

Keep refractories covered and dry Avoid inhalation of dust Put into containers Avoid procedures which will create dust Disposal should be in accordance with Federal, State and local disposal requirements
